The Chepang Hill Village Tour / Trekking begins at Hugdi, between Mugling and Krishna Bhir in Dhading district about 80 km from Kathmandu, and ends in Chitawan Shaktikhor. If one starting from the Chitwan National Park the trail can also be started from Shaktikhor and ending at Hugdi Khola. While going on this interesting trek you can help the local people in two villages. The trek goes to through rolling hills with lush vegetation, where rice fields with small houses in the beautiful traditional orange colors meet the eye. For last two hours is the most difficult part of the trek as we follow the stream up the ravine to the pass. From here, we can see down the Chepang Gaun valley and we follow the narrow path close to the mountain. On arrival in the village, the local are served us their traditional Dal Bhat. The trek to the top of the hill Sirai Chuli 2000m offers us a magnificent view of the Himalayan range from east to west: Langtang, Ganesh Himal, Manaslu, Annapurna & Dhaulagiri. It is home of the about 600 species of plants, a habitat of about 43 species of large mammals, 526 species of birds, 150 species of butterflies, 126 species of fish and 49 species of reptiles, rare one-horned rhinos and other endangered species like the Royal Bengal Tiger, the Gangetic Dolphins and Ghadiyal Crocodile. This park boasts of grey monkeys and the common brownish red rhesus monkeys, deer, leopards, wild dogs, various species of mongoose and cats, wild boar, porcupines, hyena, bats, squirrels, etc. The park also boas of nearly 600 one-horned rhinos, a quarter of the species total and their numbers continue to grow. An estimated 100 tigers are in the park at present. Nepal's Terai possesses a beauty that is totally unexpected in a country known mainly for soaring snow-covered mountains. Chitwan, a majestic and powerful location teeming with wildlife hosts one of Asia's finest national parks, renowned for its dense concentration of wildlife. Siraichuli Viewpoint
Chitwan Hills Trail has been identified which offers magnificent sunrise and sunset views from the top of Siraichuli hill. One of the highest hills in the Mahabharat range 1945m, the trek from Hattibang to Siraichuli is exciting with challenging steep boulders, streams, ridges and intact vegetation. Wide range of Himalayas in the likes of Peak 29, Annapurna Range, Gorkha Himal, Gaurishankar, Dhaulagiri, Langtang, Rolwaling, Manaslu, rare view of flatlands and spectacular sunrise and sunsets can be clearly observed. Cultural experiences of Chepang and other ethnic groups, bird watching, home-stay and other natural attractions make this trail a must to visit.

Nature trek to Gadi Hill

Uppardang Gadi is a classic octagonal artillery fort, passing into the Chitwan hills that defended the surrounding countryside during the reign of Bahadur Shah. The fort offers spectacular views in every direction. Village walks, nature and bird watching tours and the Chitwan Chepang Hills trail will be of special interest to visitors. The area is accessible from as far as Shaktikhor, walking uphill. An alternate route is to start from Hugdi (80kms from Kathmandu), Kathmandu - Pokhara Highway.

Bird Watching
Chitwan is a birdwatcher's delight with more than 450 migrant and local species recorded. The most sightings are in February - March (spring) when thousands of water birds migrate along the Koshi.

Itinerary in details

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu 1340m,
You'll be met at the airport by our representative from the company, so look out for a office sign/logo with your name when you leave the airport. They will bring you back to the Hotel. Welcome drinks will provide by Hotel and short briefing about your treks and refreshment. Stay overnight in Hotel.

Day 2: Full day sightseeing tour in Kathmandu Valley,
A free day to explore in the Kathmandu Valley. Our tour guide introduces as following Options: Climb the many steps to Swayambhunath (the monkey temple), with its commanding views of Kathmandu (1420m), its whitewashed Stupas and its unique synthesis of Buddhism and Hinduism. The striking Buddha eyes of Boudhanath Stupa watch over a lively and colorful Tibetan community and attract pilgrims from all over the Himalayan Buddhist realm. In the midst of traditional Gompas, and hung with long strings of multi-colored prayer flags, Boudhanath attracts Sherpas, Tibetans and tourists alike for daily circumambulations (Koras) of the Stupa. Durbar Square, one of the old capitals of the Kathmandu valley, is a synthesis of Hindu and Buddhist temples, stupas and statues, and is often the site of festivals, marriages and other ceremonies. Hindu Pashupatinath and its sacred temple complex on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. Here, monkeys run up and down the steps of the burning ghats, and trident-bearing saddhus draped in burnt-orange and saffron sit serenely meditating - when they’re not posing for photos-for-rupees. Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Hugdi 309m/3 hours, and Trek to Hattibang 1410m/4-5 hours
Our trekking guide will come to the hotel in the morning at 6: 00 to pick you with private transport to leave for Chepang Heritage Trail point Hugdi Khola (80km) and will take us about 3 hours scenic journey. Along the journey you will witness some stunning scenery of snow capped Mountains, green hills, rivers in rafting, and villages. After lunch in Hugdi, we walk about five hours from Hugdi Bazaar to Hattibang, a beautiful village with magnificent mountain views. Here you stay overnight in local homes or community-managed guest houses. Stay overnight in Home-Stay.

Day 4: Trek Hattibhang via Jautesh - Changa -Dinglang to Jyandala 1600m/4-5 hours

After breakfast with local family, the trail starts to the Jyandala penetrating other Chepang settlements such as Jautesh, Changa and Dinglang observe the complete Chepang settlements and their culture. Then we follow the trail through a vivid landscape and reach Siraichuli (2000m), one of the highest hills of the Mahabharat range), from where you can enjoy spectacular views of Himalayan peaks like Rolwaling, Gaurishankar, Langtang, Gorkha Himal, Peak 29, Himalchuli, Manaslu, the Annapurnas, Dhaulagiri and others along to the east west. Towards South, lie the green dense evergreen jungles of the Chitwan National Park. Stay overnight in Home-Stay.

Day 5: Trek Jyandala via Siraichuli 1945m, Chisapanitar to Upendragadi 1275m/6-7 hours
The trekking from Jyandala to Siraichuli is an outstanding experience. It is outstinding mountain ranges view during the sunrise and sunset at Siraichuli. And Moving ahead from Siraichuli to Chisapanitar is also a still splendid. Then the trail leads you through an ever changing landscape to Uppardang Gadi which used to be former headquarter of Chitwan until early 1962. The remains of a historic fort that defended the surrounding countryside are still in existence. The nature and the spectacular views make it an ideal place to stay overnight with local family. Day 6: Trek Upendragadi to Shaktikhor 355m/4-5 hours
Today, after breakfast we descend to Shaktikhor from Gadi. Shaktikor is another Chepang village and the centre of the sustainable tourism initiative of the Chepang people. There established a Chepang Museum and a visitor's information centre which both serve as tourist attractions and as educational service centers. The caves and waterfalls around the village invite you for a stroll in the area. In the evening, the local people will perform their cultural programs on request. Stay overnight in Home-Stay.

Day 7: Trek Shaktikhor to Sauraha 2-3 hours and transfer to Chitwan National Park
The final day of trek ends at Sauraha in the early day then, we experience jungle safari at Sauraha. In the afternoon, we transfer to Resort for overnight stay. We have chance to see including royal tiger, one horn rhino, bear, dear, bore, crocodile etc. during the jungle safari. And can explore traditional ethnic group Tharu people’s culture and their live hood. Hotel Westwood representative will come to pick up you and transfer to the hotel. In the hotel you will be offered refreshment and the operation manager will brief about the package program and facilities of the hotel. Then, your room will be allocated to you.

P.S. In case of Emergency Evacuation during the trip, Helicopter Rescue will be arranged by Mystique Nepal Himalayan Trekking & Expedition (P) Ltd within 1-2 hours in first call. The cost of the rescue must be paid by the clients themselves or insurance company.

There will be a cancellation fee of 30% for any cancellation unforeseen problems shown one month prior to Trekking/Tour departure date, a cancellation fee of 50% two weeks prior to Trekking/Tour departure date and no refund thereafter. No refund for no shows & delay arrivals whatsoever reason.
