Rafting in Bhote Koshi River

The Bhote Koshi is the steepest river rafted in Nepal. With a gradient of 15m per km it is a full eight times as steep as the Sun Koshi, which it feeds further downstream. The river carves a steep and direct drop at the top that gradually eases to more placid streams and the calmer pools with a 20km run at the Lamosunga dam. The Bhote Koshi is used for both rafting and kayaking. The river is steep and continuous with one rapid leading into another. The Bhote Koshi originates in the Tibetan plateau from where it flows down steep gorges to Nepal in the south. Naturally, the landscape it flows through is rugged, adding thrills to the trip. It's a tough ride with Class IV and Class V rapids at the higher flows and Class III in the lower levels.  Wild, Ranging from Steep, Adrenaline-charged Mountain streams, big rapids and relentless are the best word to describe the short run down the Bhote Koshi is short and sweet. On this river, only a few hours' drive northeast of Kathmandu, Rising from the snow-capped peaks of Tibet, the Bhote Koshi river provides some of the most exciting rafting, kayaking, Cannoning & Trekking in Nepal, and is quite possibly one of the best short white water Voyage offered anywhere in the world. While driving to the put in point .The Scenery en route is astounding, the Himalayan mountain ranges such a Langtang, Dorje Lakpa and others come into view. Along the ways are some spectacular emerald fields. Tea aced hillsides, large Canyons, Roaring waterfall and the shimmering waters of the Sun Koshi. Drawing amazing and mystifying power from high in the Bhot (Tibet), the Bhote Koshi River, tumbles into Nepal through breathtaking valleys. Glacier water, from the 10th Highest Mountain Shisa Pangma, carves a steep and direct drop at the top that gradually eases to more placid streams. Family raft trips and regular kayak clinics are available on the lower river sections and this is better place to experience the thrill and gratification of learning to kayak in the Himalayas.

Bhotekoshi River is not so away from Kathmandu therefore easily accessed driving through highway. It is at the distance of 3 hours drive through Araniko Highway to Lamosangu. The highway is with numerous bents and natural scenarios. Bhote Koshi is itself very challenging river as the road way view provides while travelling to access point of rafting. The upper Bhote Koshi ends at Barabise and the Lower Bhote Koshi starts at Lamosangu Dam. Rafting put-in –point is at Lamosangu. Rafting adventure in this river is challenging because of big water flow in the river. Expert rafters can handles some rapids which are breathe stopping and hair straightening while rafting. The river flows through narrow canyons covered in lush green vegetation and from the rocks flow down crystal clear waterfalls. The usual run on this river lasts from one to two days.

Rafting itinerary in detail
We organize a pre-departure meeting the night before to answer questions and meet the team. Please meet at the sales office in Kathmandu at 6 PM.

Day 01: Drive from to Lamosangu by private vehicle which takes about 3 hours. On this day, you will be driven to Lamosangu which is the put-in-point of Bhote Koshi River Rafting. The rafting begins at the Dam in Lamosangu. There, we will stay in a camp for the overnight. The free time can be used to explore the surrounding area. Stay overnight at tented camp.

Day 02: Rafting to Dolalghat and drive back to Kathmandu. On this day, Bhotekoshi River rafting team starts journey. The team includes well experienced guides and life guards. Experience adventurous rafting with some blood-freezing rapids and gorges throughout the river. After the rafting trip, drive back to Kathmandu which takes 2 hours and transfer to your own Hotel.

Please bring following: -
       Swim wear for on the river.
       Warm clothing for the evenings including a fleece or a pullover.
       Sunscreen and lip protector.
       Sunglasses (with retaining device) and/or a cap.
       Towel and Toiletries (environmentally friendly is best).
       Personal medication.
       Reading book.
       Fishing hook (you can fishing in the Himalayan River).

Tipping is expected but it is not mandatory and can be treated end of the trip if satisfied.

N. B. This is a general itinerary, which can always individually be “tailor-made”. The package itinerary can be redesigned or changed due to trekker’s fitness and time frame of holiday. P.S. In case of Emergency Evacuation during the trip, Helicopter Rescue will be arranged by Mystique Nepal Himalayan Trekking & Expedition (P) Ltd within 1-2 hours in first call. The cost of the rescue must be paid by the clients themselves or insurance company.

There will be a cancellation fee of 30% for any cancellation unforeseen problems shown one month prior to Trekking/Tour departure date, a cancellation fee of 50% two weeks prior to Trekking/Tour departure date and no refund thereafter. No refund for no shows & delay arrivals whatsoever reason.
