Tours in Nepal

Explore the cities of the Kathmandu Valley steeped in culture, history and art. The Kathmandu valley comprises Kathmandu, the capital city, and the cities of Patan (Lalitpur) and Bhaktapur, which were separate kingdoms before the unification of Nepal in 1768 by King Prithvi Narayan Shah of Gorkha. Its most famous pilgrimage sites are the Pashupatinath Temple, revered by Hindus all over the world, and Swayambhunath and Bauddhanath - centres of Newar and Tibetan Buddhism in Nepal respectively. All these three sites are included in UNESCO’s World Heritage list. Then visit the other World Heritage monuments – Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath, Bauddhanath and Changu Narayan. Step into the museums of the valley to learn about Nepal’s kings, history, ethnic groups, art and culture. Go shopping. Try your hand at rummy or blackjack at one of the five-star casinos. Savor authentic food at one of the many restaurants. There are countless things to do in Kathmandu.

Pokhara, the famous tourist city, provides equally superb cultural tours and activities with its beautiful natural setting, several museums and innumerable restaurants and cafes. Lumbini, the birthplace of Lord Buddha, in the Terai plains of Nepal is one of the greatest pilgrimage sites for Buddhists. More than 400,000 Buddhists and non Buddhists visit Lumbini every year. It is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site (Culture) and holds immense archeological and religious importance. Chitwan literally means “heart of the jungle”. In recent years Chitwan tops the list of things to do in Asia. It is a truly wildlife adventure of a different kind – jungle safaris on elephant backs or jeeps, bird watching, canoe rides and jungle walks. The Chitwan National Park is Asia’s best preserved conservation area, where wildlife thrives and their habitats remain intact. Only half-hour flight from Kathmandu, the park lies in the Inner Terai lowlands and consists of Sal forests, tall elephant grasslands, hills, ox-box lakes and flood plains of the Narayani, Rapti and Reu rivers. Enlisted as a UNESCO World Heritage Site (Natural) in 1984, the park spreads over an area of 932 sq. km.
